Terms of Service
There are only a few things you need to be aware of to participate in this free service. It is very important that you review this document so that you are clear about how we operate before you make any submissions or requests.
3 SIMPLE RULES
- You must be located in Lake County, Illinois USA. Sites outside the USA will not be considered. USA sites that are not in Lake County or Illinois: Click Here..
- You must note your physical address and contact info. Sites without their contact information, physical address or location obviously displayed on their site will not be considered for inclusion in our directory.
- You must have a return link back to our Directory in place within 48 hours or our system will automatically remove your listing.
Simple! If your site doesn't meet the above 3 simple and clear rules and you submit anyway, you've just wasted your time. Your site will not be added and your submission will be deleted without notice.
ADDITIONAL INFO AND TIPS:
SUBMISSION TIP: Keep your site's description to no more than 25 words. Also try to include key search terms within your description so that site searchers have a better chance of finding you when looked for. It should go without saying, (but we have to say it due to the unbelievable number of submissions with poor grammar, sentence structure and typos) proofread your submissions so that you look legitimate and credible! |
Choose Your Category: Please choose the most appropriate category for your link, or we will choose it for you. We are always open to category and subcategory suggestions (we currently have over 100 categories and growing) and will not hesitate to add to that if we deem necessary and appropriate.
One Category Only: Link submissions can only be listed in one category--so choose wisely!
Reciprocal Link Required: You will need to return the favor for participation and exposure in our Lake County Directory by including a return link on your site using the code that will be provided to you. Sites that do not return the favor, will not be listed. You will have 48 hours to get your link in place before the system will automatically remove your link from display. Fair is fair. TNSTAAFL!
Affiliate/AdSense Sites: Sites that are purely composed of affiliate links or are composed of only Google AdSense, Yahoo Publisher or other network ads and no content or sites that we question their legitimacy will not be accepted. That's our call!
Site Must Be Complete: "Coming Soon", "Future Home of..." or "Under Construction" sites/pages will not be accepted until the site is live for full review. Please refrain from submitting your site until which time it is completed.
Personal Pages: Lake County, Illinois residents are welcome to submit their personal Web sites to the "Personal Pages" category. Personal pages and those sites hosted on free hosting services (which is an indication of not being a serious commercial site) located outside of Lake County or Illinois will not be accepted to our directory. This is a Lake County, Illinois focused directory after all!
Our Directory; Our Call: It is at our sole discretion as to which links we approve, deny or remove from our directory at any time or for any reason. Period. We can do so without notice or explanation. This is a free service we are offering that we do not commercially gain from and we will continue to ensure its integrity by reviewing all submissions and using our best judgement as to the sites we feel are well designed, valuable and of interest to those in Lake County, Illinois. We will not link to adult Web sites or those sites with topics that we feel are not of interest to the general public at large. Our goal is to have a quality (Not quantity!) link directory for those who have been regular and loyal site visitors to LakeOnline.com for over 10 years.
Sponsorships: Once approved, you can get more visibility for your site by purchasing a Sponsorship for your Category @ $25.00 a month. These fees simply help to defray our costs. We accept any major credit card through PayPal and you need not have a PayPal account to use this feature. Sponsored links appear at the top of their respective category and will also appear in the Sponsor column rotation in their respective category and on search results pages that have keyword matches. Sponsor links also rotate on the Index (top page), Hot Links, New Links, and Editor Pick pages (in a random fashion).
PLEASE NOTE: Persons or companies that spam our index with sites that do not meet our TOS will be banned from our system. Multiple requests to take advantage of our free service, without having the courtesy to take the time to read these simple rules, reflects a lack of respect for our service and we choose to not offer such sites free exposure in our directory. |
Not Located in Lake County, Illinois? READ THIS!!
Location, Location, Location: This directory is primarily for Lake County, Illinois Web Sites, however we do have two categories "Outside Lake County" and "Outside Illinois" for those sites outside the area that we deem at our sole discretion are well designed and valuable sites. As these categories get filled, we will categorize them further. WARNING:
Submit your site only to these two special categories or your submission
will not be considered and will be deleted without notice.
Note Your Location: Your Web site still needs to clearly state your location and contact information to be accepted into our directory or your request will be rejected.
You Understand: By submitting your link request, we will assume you have read, agree and understand our TOS. So, when your site is declined because you didn't have the courtesy to review these guidelines in the first place as noted on the top page of our directory and on the Add URL form you completed, please don't bother getting huffy with us. That certainly won't help your case nor will it encourage us to want to have a site owned by someone who operates in that manner listed in our directory.
